So Sad :'(

As you probably already guessed, there were several days awhile back where I unfortunately forgot to take a picture for this project.  And as my life seems to get busier and busier, I've noticed I really don't have time for this project this year.  So I failed yet again.... but there's always next year!!!  So thanks to those of you who have been faithfully checking my blog, but I won't be posting anymore, so you might as well stop ;-)

Not the greatest picture, but I went to a Phi Slam party tonight (basically a giant dance party). The theme was galactic versus tribal, hence the time machine. It was so much fun and I'm definitely glad I went! (Even though I had a test the next morning because of the snow... oops ;)

This is also a super random picture, and to you guys it probably won't mean much, but to me, it's really representative of how much fun I've been having this semester!  Alyssa and I have gotten really close this semester now that we're roomies and we basically had no choice ;-) But we've been getting along really well and having SOOOO much fun together!  So these are four pictures that she drew me of random inside jokes that we have, so even though the drawings won't make any sense to you, just know that they mean a lot to me!  Especially today we really spent a lot of time together and had some great laughs, so I figured that it would be a good day to take a picture of these drawings and brag on how awesome my roommate is!!

Kind of a lame picture, but it's representative of my last ever night of Freshley, the student ministry that I'm involved in on campus.  There's always Wesley, but in my opinion that's just not quite as good.  So like I said, this picture is not very good, and I took it before everyone came flooding in, but you get the idea... this is were we held the service every Monday night all year long!

Day Two of our Athens adventure!  Even though my uncle went here not really that long ago when you think about it, a lot has changed, including the construction of this new dining hall.  It's not new to me, but apparently it wasn't here in during his time at UGA, so we decided to try it out.  Needless to say, I think he approved!

This is one of my favorite pictures of the year!  It reminds me of the Oscars selfie taken by Ellen that was the most retweeted tweet EVER in Twitter history!  And we all look pretty good in it too! ;-) So obviously, as you can see, I had a lot of family come visit me here in Athens, and we had a really fun time!  Mom and Justin came up for the day, and my aunt and uncle spent the night Saturday to stay Sunday and see some more of Athens.

First of all, happy birthday Grammy!!! I hope you had a great day! So since today is St. Patty's Day, Alyssa decided that leprocons were going to come visit. (???) Apparently that was a tradition in her house even though I've never heard of such a thing. So she turned a lot of my stuff upside down and all the stuff on our door since supposedly that's what leprocons do. So this is a picture of oir door turned upside down :)

Just a random picture of some homework.  I thought this was a fitting picture for today though because I don't really have any homework that's due tomorrow, but I've been working on a lot of stuff today that I know is going to be due right when I get back from spring break, and since I really don't want to do work over the break, I'm trying to get all of the important stuff done today before I go.  So far so good, and it looks like I won't be doing any school related work next week over my much needed respite from school.  It's been a super fun semester and I'll be excited to go back for sure, but I haven't been home in awhile so it'll be nice to just relax for awhile.  Everything's always so busy here in Athens!  The only thing I need to worry about over the break will be finding a summer job since Menchies closed, but we'll cross that bridge when we get there.

March 5th

This picture is kind of blurry because my phone does not do action shots, but this was the halftime show to the last home basketball game of the season.  It was four guys bouncing off a trampoline and doing crazy shots into the basket.  I know it's kind of hard to tell, but notice the guy on the upper right hand corner of the picture.  He's literally about 10 feet in the air about to slam the ball into the basket.  Definitely a pretty cool halftime show... I have no idea how they do it but they were super talented and really fun to watch!

I'm pretty proud of this picture because I feel like it's pretty artsy with the slanted angle and all.  But anyway, I took this picture on the bus on my way to sociology this morning.  It's kind of hard to see but the red awning in the center of the picture is the Gyro Wrap restaurant downtown that I went to with Mom and Justin when they came to visit!

So this picture has a story... trust me! :-)  Today my friend Cayden and I were planning on going to a basketball game to get a free t-shirt and our points for Commit to the G.  When we got there, we realized that you needed a coupon to get the shirts which we didn't have, so we walked over to baseball to check into that before going to lunch.  Well as we were sitting there two students who work for the athletic program here came up to us and asked us if we wanted to do a contest after the first inning of the game.  All we had to do was play rock, paper, scissors, and the winner got a baseball cap and these awesome UGA sunglasses!  Needless to say, I was the winner (sorry Cayden), so I got this awesome new UGA gear!  Moral of the story: go to all the sporting events and always do the contests if they ask you!!

March 1st

Not the greatest quality picture in the world, but I went to a Switchfoot concert in downtown Athens so I had to post a picture of it!  If you can read that sign in the center of the picture, it says Georgia Theater, and underneath that which you can't read, it says Switchfoot and the Kopecky Family Band, the openers for Switchfoot.  The concert was a lot of fun and I can't wait to go to another concert in the future!!

February 28th

Bolton!  One of the several dining halls here on campus.  Not my favorite, but for lunch and breakfast it's not too bad.  This morning after my one and only class got out, I decided to head to Bolton to do some studying until lunch when I meet Alyssa there to eat.  So that's been my day so far :)

I got to go to the Niche today with some friends (the new dining hall that has AMAZING food!), so I took a picture of my view while waiting for the bus outside of the dining hall.  Nothing fancy, sorry, but at least it's not another picture of my closet!

As I was getting ready this morning to go into class, the power went out in Russell.  I thought it was just our residence at first, but then as I had to get and eat my breakfast in the dark at the dining hall, I realized that a lot of places on campus had a power outage.  It didn't last very long, but the fire department was here so I got a picture of the fire truck!  From what I heard someone say, and I could be wrong, the fire department came to get people out of the elevator in my building because they were stuck.  That's my biggest fear about riding the elevators... that I'll get stuck in them!  So here's to hoping that never happens to me! :)

Day 2 of Dance Marathon!  This picture is kind of hard to see, I know, but if you look closely on the screen up at the front, you can see the AMAZING total that UGA Miracle raised this year for Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.  The grand total for those of you that can't see was $507,203.  Now it's easy to be like, hmm ok, good job guys, but just think about that for a second... that's over HALF A MILLION dollars going to benefit Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.  And when I think about the fact that this was all money that was fundraised throughout the year by college students just like me, it blows my mind!  Our goal for this year was $415,000, and even that was a huge number that everyone knew we were going to have to work really hard to raise, so to think that we got nearly $100,000 more than our already extremely high goal is pretty amazing.  So thanks to all of you who donated!! :)

February 22nd

This past 24 hours has been SUPER exciting!  In case anybody didn't know, I was involved in something here this year called UGA Miracle, where we raise money for the local Miracle Network Hospital, and in this case, Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.  We work on raising money all year, and at the end, we have a 24 hour celebration called Dance Marathon, where we finish fundraising and celebrate the miracle families, which is the reason why we do what we do.  There are about 40 different families that have spent time at Children's Healthcare that come and share at Dance Marathon, so it was really neat to get to hear all of the stories.  Ideally, you're supposed to stay for all 24 hours, but unfortunately I have a midterm on Monday and I'm still getting over being sick, so I didn't stay all 24.  I made it until a little after midnight and then went back to sleep, but I did end up coming back in the morning for the last hour and a half!  And next year, I definitely plan on staying the whole 24 hours and possibly even doing the standing challenge, where you stand for 24 hours in honor of the kids who will never be able to stand anymore.  UGA Miracle is definitely a worthwhile organization, and I was so blessed to be a part of it this year!  #DestinationDM #LoseYourself #ForTheKids

Not a good picture at all, but unlike my other awful pictures, I actually have a good excuse for this one.  This picture was taken while laying on my futon as I was battling the terrible stomach bug that's making its rounds around UGA.  Not the best day for me, but I feel all better now, so that's a definite plus!

Today my beautiful mommy and handsome brother came to visit me in Athens! :-)  Not the best picture of Justin because he has his eyes closed, but I really like this picture of you, Mom!  This picture was taken in front of the lake at Lakeside, my apartment complex for next year!!  Unfortunately we didn't get to tour it because the office was closed, but we still got to have a look around the area which was nice.  Thanks for coming to visit you guys!  I had a lot of fun with you!
