Bolton! One of the several dining halls here on campus. Not my favorite, but for lunch and breakfast it's not too bad. This morning after my one and only class got out, I decided to head to Bolton to do some studying until lunch when I meet Alyssa there to eat. So that's been my day so far :)
Project 365 was initiated for the first time in 2004 by Taylor McKnight. The purpose of this project is to record life's many events in one photograph a day for a year. I hope you all enjoy the photos that I will be posting on this blog and I encourage you to try it also as it is a fun and exciting way to remember the year!

February 27th
I got to go to the Niche today with some friends (the new dining hall that has AMAZING food!), so I took a picture of my view while waiting for the bus outside of the dining hall. Nothing fancy, sorry, but at least it's not another picture of my closet!

February 25th
As I was getting ready this morning to go into class, the power went out in Russell. I thought it was just our residence at first, but then as I had to get and eat my breakfast in the dark at the dining hall, I realized that a lot of places on campus had a power outage. It didn't last very long, but the fire department was here so I got a picture of the fire truck! From what I heard someone say, and I could be wrong, the fire department came to get people out of the elevator in my building because they were stuck. That's my biggest fear about riding the elevators... that I'll get stuck in them! So here's to hoping that never happens to me! :)

A picture of a great study area that's awesome for the nice weather that we had yesterday!! (Oh and you can conveniently see my feet in this picture, and I'm sporting my new chacos that I got for Christmas!!)

February 23rd
Day 2 of Dance Marathon! This picture is kind of hard to see, I know, but if you look closely on the screen up at the front, you can see the AMAZING total that UGA Miracle raised this year for Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. The grand total for those of you that can't see was $507,203. Now it's easy to be like, hmm ok, good job guys, but just think about that for a second... that's over HALF A MILLION dollars going to benefit Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. And when I think about the fact that this was all money that was fundraised throughout the year by college students just like me, it blows my mind! Our goal for this year was $415,000, and even that was a huge number that everyone knew we were going to have to work really hard to raise, so to think that we got nearly $100,000 more than our already extremely high goal is pretty amazing. So thanks to all of you who donated!! :)
February 22nd
This past 24 hours has been SUPER exciting! In case anybody didn't know, I was involved in something here this year called UGA Miracle, where we raise money for the local Miracle Network Hospital, and in this case, Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. We work on raising money all year, and at the end, we have a 24 hour celebration called Dance Marathon, where we finish fundraising and celebrate the miracle families, which is the reason why we do what we do. There are about 40 different families that have spent time at Children's Healthcare that come and share at Dance Marathon, so it was really neat to get to hear all of the stories. Ideally, you're supposed to stay for all 24 hours, but unfortunately I have a midterm on Monday and I'm still getting over being sick, so I didn't stay all 24. I made it until a little after midnight and then went back to sleep, but I did end up coming back in the morning for the last hour and a half! And next year, I definitely plan on staying the whole 24 hours and possibly even doing the standing challenge, where you stand for 24 hours in honor of the kids who will never be able to stand anymore. UGA Miracle is definitely a worthwhile organization, and I was so blessed to be a part of it this year! #DestinationDM #LoseYourself #ForTheKids

February 21st
Now that I (mostly) have my appetite back, here's a tray of my food from tonight! Not too exciting, but a little better than the picture I took yesterday :)
February 20th
Not a good picture at all, but unlike my other awful pictures, I actually have a good excuse for this one. This picture was taken while laying on my futon as I was battling the terrible stomach bug that's making its rounds around UGA. Not the best day for me, but I feel all better now, so that's a definite plus!

February 19th
A picture of the construction of a new dining hall. It's super close to the student center and the MLC where we have a lot of our classes, but unfortunately I won't be able to take advantage of it because it won't be done until the start of next school year when I'm off the meal plan :(

February 18th
I took this gem of a picture on my way to biology today! It's nothing fancy, just my view while waiting at the bus stop.
February 17th
I almost forgot to take a picture (again) for today so this one has to do. But it's kind of a neat one because it shows the message that Justin wrote me when he was here on Sunday. Thanks Jus, love you too!

February 16th
Today my beautiful mommy and handsome brother came to visit me in Athens! :-) Not the best picture of Justin because he has his eyes closed, but I really like this picture of you, Mom! This picture was taken in front of the lake at Lakeside, my apartment complex for next year!! Unfortunately we didn't get to tour it because the office was closed, but we still got to have a look around the area which was nice. Thanks for coming to visit you guys! I had a lot of fun with you!

February 14th
This is a pretty artsy picture if I do say so myself ;-) I took it while I was studying in the journalism building, and the window is overlooking Park Hall across the street, where I had my English class last semester. A pretty nice study area and a pretty good view!

This is another picture of the study lounge on my floor. I'm 99% positive that I already took one in this same room, so sorry about that :(
February 10th
A random late-night picture of my agenda. But shout out to my grandma and my cousin Katie for picking this out for me last Easter! It's really come in handy this year! :)

Not the greatest picture, sorry. This is under my bed with the Christmas lights strung around our futon :)

So this is Athens-Clarke County Library, which I just went to for the first time today. Athens is known for being a kind of poor area, so I was a little skeptical about this whole library thing, but let me tell you, I was thoroughly impressed! It was so nice in there, and it definitely put Cobb County libraries to shame. I really liked it, and it's super close to my dorm so I'm excited to start checking out books from there, and it'll even be a really nice study spot too!

Today's picture is dedicated to my sweet mommy, who sent me a care package today! (Well, I think it came a few days ago, but I didn't check my mailbox until today :/ ) She sent me some cookies, Valentine's Day candy, and a long sweet note :-) Thanks Mom for the goodies and I'm looking forward to you coming and visiting soon!!

Menchies!!! Today was national fro yo day, so they had free yogurt at Menchies up to 6 ounces, which clearly I took advantage of! Unfortunately, I recently found out that the Menchies I worked at in Marietta is now closed, so I'm going to have to find another job this summer, but it was super nice working there, and I'm always glad to get back to a Menchies, even though I can't do it near my house now :(

February 5th
I took this picture standing at the bus stop across the street from the Coliseum (the glass building behind the bus). That's the building where I've been going to all of my basketball games and now the gym dogs meets that I've started going to.

Sorry this picture is a little out of focus and blurry because of the people in the back, but this is the lobby of Brumby, one of the freshman dorms at UGA. It's right next to Russell which is where I live. I was visiting my friend Hannah so I took a picture on the way out :)
February 3rd
Haha I just know Alyssa's going to love me for putting this picture on the internet! Ha! So here's the deal with today's picture. I was planning on taking one earlier in the day at Freshley, a church service type thing that I go to here on campus, but of course I forgot, so this picture was taken around 11:40 last night. That was by far the closet I've ever come this year to forgetting to take my picture. So I told Alyssa that I forgot and she jokingly struck this pose, which I was able to get a picture of :)

February 2nd
Today instead of going to church (because I go to a church type thing on Monday nights instead), I watched a sermon online. It was a special one too since it was the pastors last message before starting at another church. So I thought what better picture to take today than one of my Bible.
February 1st
This was a picture I took at the Gym Dogs event, which really ended up being pretty cool! I will definitely be going back soon! :)

January 31st
Ok so this picture is really disappointing to me, but I'm very happy that I had the foresight to take this, otherwise I might have failed my goal already. Last night, I went to a concert with my roommate and a few other people, and I was planning on taking a picture there, but it ended up being too dark to actually get a good one. We had a super fun time though! I wasn't sure at all what to expect, but I really enjoyed it! We went to go see the B53s, a cover band for the B52s who are from Athens, and I'm pretty sure they went to UGA too! So that was kind of neat. The only songs I know by the B52s are Rock Lobster and Love Shack (which thankfully they did end up playing!), but Alyssa is a big B52s fan, so it was her idea to go, and we all ended up really enjoying ourselves! Just thought I needed to tell that story even though I didn't take a picture of it, so that people know I am doing fun stuff here, sometimes it's just hard to take a picture of it.
