January 31st

Day 31 and the last day of January and the picture for the day is my dinner.  (Sorry I realize that this idea was already taken in a previous Project 365 photo but as you said... "copying is not theft" :-)  Now this is not a random picture of my dinner, it has a story behind it.  This is Ukrainian borscht.  Or at least it's supposed to be.  I helped Ira, my Ukrainian friend who was here this past Christmas, make borscht although the version that she made was slightly different.  I couldn't find a good recipe online so I just winged it.  Hopefully it will turn out okay! *fingers crossed*  But whatever it is, one thing is for sure... it will never be as good as the borscht that Ira made :(

January 30th

Wow I can't believe that January is almost over.  It has seemed like a really long time, probably because of this project.  This is another edited picture of my brothers' shoes.  Pretty simple and nothing more to say about that so bye!

January 29th

Today since it's such a beautiful day we went to the park to go geocaching.  We couldn't find the geocache but we went near a disc golf course where we always used to play disc golf.  This is one of the holes.  It's edited with photoshop!  I'm still figuring out how to correctly edit them but I think this is a good first attempt.

January 28th

My picture for today is lame, I know.  But I didn't have time to think of anything clever.  Tomorrow I have a sort of good idea so we'll see what happens.  This is my monkey that my dad gave me when I was younger.  His name is Crovel.  (Velcro backwards.)  Well there's nothing else to say about this.  Bye!

January 27th

This is a picture of my adorable neighbor, Ava.  She came over in our yard to play.  So cute!!!  I would like to make a retraction of my statement yesterday.  My grandmother does not actually view herself as a roll of toilet paper.

"It is merely one way (of many) to explain how quickly our lives disappear."   ~C.H.

C.H. for all of you who were unable to figure it out is my grandmother.  And yes that is a direct quote from her.  So anyway that is my retraction.  I conveyed her idea the wrong way:-)  So Grandma hopefully all of my readers better understand you now!  Goodbye until tomorrow!

January 26th

Okay Day 26 and this picture is just ehhh.  My grandma suggested that I take a picture of a roll of toilet paper and then she gave me about a paragraph on why she sees herself as a roll of toilet paper.  Needless to say, I did not take that suggestion.  I just don't want to take a picture of a roll of toilet paper and then tell all of my viewers why she can relate to that object. :-)  But don't worry Grandma, I will probably be taking some of your suggestions in the future.  So anyway this picture today is obviously of me in my backyard.  I thought it was time for another self portrait.  Hopefully more creative ideas coming soon!

January 25th

Today I decided to take a picture of my ipod on my oh so colorful comforter.  I attempted taking a picture of me and my ipod.  I really want to do another self-portrait one of these days but today obviously just isn't one of them.  And plus, it's hard to top yesterdays picture.  That's the trouble when I take a good picture, I hate it when the next day I am forced to think of something that I can only hope will be half as clever as the previous day.  Well that's all for Day 25 of Project 365!

January 24th

Day 24!!!  I must say this might be my favorite picture so far of this entire project.  It looked a little bit better on my camera screen than it actually does on the computer, but I still think this one is pretty cool.  I was trying to take some shots of my 9 year old neighbor Evan skateboarding.  I was trying some different things from some different angles and WHALA! I came up with this.  The sun, as you may be able to see, is right behind him so the shadow that it makes over his body is pretty neat.  I don't know, maybe this is a pretty amateurish shot but I like it a lot!

January 23rd

I feel like I've hit a slump again.  Today I just went outside and took a random picture of my neighbor's swing.  Not to exciting but I guess it works for today.  Hopefully tomorrow's picture will be better.

January 22nd

I've been wanting to try this picture for a couple of weeks now but today was actually one of the first days in awhile that it's been sunny.  In case you haven't noticed, those are my hands making a heart around the sun.  Simple but I like it.  I thought it would turn out a little bit better than it actually did but I don't think it's that bad.  I kind of like it!

January 21st

Photo shoot day!!!!  My bff Alex came over today after school and we took some pictures with her camera!!!  Since the schedule at school this semester changed, Alex and I don't have any classes together:(  (Last year we had Honors Chem and Lunch)  Either way, we make it work and we visit each other in between classes and stuff.  But it's not the same.... that's why we take advantage of the opportunities that we have to actually hang out outside of school!  Well that's all for today!  Bye!

January 20th

Day 20 of Project 365!  This is one of those pictures that looked way better in my mind than what it looks like in real life.  Anyway, my picture for today is my old soccer ball.  I used to play soccer in elementary school and this was the ball that I used to practice with.  Not much more to say about this photo so I guess I'll be going now!  Bye!

January 19th

These are eight cans of soda that my brother drew and put up on his wall.  I must admit, he is quite the artist and creative thinker.  Yesterday my grandmother suggested that I take a picture of things that are meaningful to me and not just pictures of things with no meaning.  Well I think that her suggestion was a good one, but that does not mean that I will stop taking pictures of nature and other stuff that doesn't really have a specific meaning.  Part of the goal of this project is to get better with your camera and one way of doing that is taking pictures of fun scenery, nature, etc.  All that to say today I decided to follow my Grandma's advice and take a picture that has some meaning.  I attempted to take a picture of my brother's gecko but the lighting wasn't right and he just blended into the leaves.  Hopefully once we can hold him then I can get a picture of him.  I still have a good idea for a picture but I need some sunlight which hasn't happened in several days.  Anyway, more picture on the way!!!  Have a great January 19th!

January 18th

Day 18!!!  I realize this is not the most exciting picture that I could have posted.  Today I just wanted to take a picture to represent something that I did today.  London by Edward Rutherford is an over 1000 page book that I am required to read for 10th grade Honors British Literature.  I just discovered yesterday to my surprise that I had 72 pages to read by the 20th.  Well today at school I just found out that I actually have to have them read by tomorrow.  Welcome to the frustrations of my life:-)  I am a fairly fast reader and I only have 25 pages left but it's still quite stressful.  My grandmother has been reading this book with me and from what I can tell she strongly recommends this.  I'm glad that she's reading it because now I can ask her questions about it when needed.  Grandma, if you're reading this, I will be calling you later to discuss the chapter!!!

January 17th

Day 17!!!  Today's picture is pretty boring.... nothing special.  It gets hard to take pictures over and over again in the same house.  I think that the most exciting days to take and post pictures are the days when something different is happening and you are away from her home.  Either way, here is the picture for January 17th.  My brother just got a gecko so I'm hoping in the near future to take a picture of him for this project so everyone keep your eyes peeled!  Until tomorrow!

January 16th

Today is Sunday which in this case means football.  The Jets are playing in the Divisional Playoffs today again the Patriots which is why I am wearing my Jets sweatshirt as well as my Jets scrunchie.  (Even though it's really hard to see in this picture.)  I didn't feel like thinking about a clever picture to take today so I just decided to take a picture of myself in my Jets attire so that someday when I look back on this project I can remember that on January 16th I watched the Jets play football.  (As if I need to remember that :-)  Go Jets!!!

January 15th

I am actually satisfied with today's picture!  My keyboard that I got many years ago for my birthday!  I don't really have anything much more to say about this picture, I think it's pretty self explanatory.  Happy January 15th everyone!

January 14th

Okay so here is January 14th's picture.  Pretty plain and simple, just a picture of a plant sitting on my fireplace.  Not much more to say about it.  Like I said yesterday, I'm running out of ideas of pictures to take but I'm not giving up!  Hopefully I will have more creative pictures to come!

January 13th

I know what you're thinking: another snow picture.  And not only that but a snow picture with my brother in it.  But here's the deal... this project has proved to be much harder than it looks.  It's still fun and I enjoy taking pictures each day and posting them for all to see, but after what would seem like a mere 13 days of this has felt like a lifetime.  I am running out of ideas to take pictures of and just thinking of the 352 days that I have left makes me a little nervous.  Getting back to the point, since we do not get very much snow, I figured that this would be the perfect opportunity to take pictures of the snow so that other ideas that I had can be saved for a later date.  Okay well that's all, but be on the lookout for more snow pictures tomorrow!!!

January 12th

Day 12 of Project 365 and there is still snow on the ground.  Today I took a picture of my dog, Zoe.  I thought that she wouldn't like the snow but to my surprise, she actually seemed to want to be outside in it.  I took about fifteen pictures but in the end this was the one I decided on.  Sorry it's not the best quality photo.  It especially didn't help at all that since she's black, she blends in and it's hard to see her face but this is the best I can do.  Hopefully more pictures to come!

January 11th

Day 11 of Project 365 and I'm still going strong!  Today I decided to take a picture of me playing my new guitar that I got for Christmas.  I'm not very good because I just got it but I'm going to keep working at it and hopefully I will get better!  I'm currently learning how to play "Our God" by Chris Tomlin.  It's coming along but it still needs a lot more work.  Well that's all for today!

January 10th

Snow Day!!!  This is probably the most snow that I have ever seen, somewhere around 5 inches!  This is a picture of my brother staring out into the snow, as you were probably already able to notice.  There is not much more to say about this picture so I think that's it.  Happy Snow Day!

January 9th

Today's picture is my lunch arranged in a neat little arrangement.  This picture is significant to me because one of my New Year's resolutions is to eat healthier.  My grandmother is not a strong believer in eating healthy, or I should say she does not choose to eat healthy herself.  And when I say healthy I do mean healthy such as food items with all natural ingredients in them.  Hopefully I will be able to stick to this resolution but we will see how long it lasts.  Hopefully tomorrow I can take some pictures of the snow because there is supposed to be a big snowstorm starting tonight!!!

January 8th

This is a picture of Ira, the Ukrainian girl that my aunt and uncle are hosting for the holidays.  Since this is my last weekend to be able to see her before she goes back to Ukraine, I wanted to take a picture of her and include her in this year long project.  We had a puzzle contest as we do so often at my grandparents house.  She was pretty good at them too!  Well this concludes Day 8 of Project 365.  Until tomorrow!!!

January 7th

This picture was kind of spur of the moment.  I had planned on taking a picture later on in the day at my grandparents' house but i decided it would be easier to take it now.  This pretty much just shows that it is dark and stormy looking outside right now despite the fact that it is not raining.  The sky makes the picture look good but I really like the two trees and the top of that house.  I don't really know if it would look good to someone who actually knows about photography but I am just exploring my options and attempting to be creative!  Well that's it for Day 7 of Project 365!  I'm really proud of myself that I've made it a whole week!  Hopefully this streak will not come to a halt for many more days.

January 6th

Okay so for once I actually like this picture.  I had been planning on doing this for the past couple of days but I wanted to wait for a sunny day so that the shoes would make a shadow.  (Mission accomplished!)  I just got these Toms for Christmas.  In case you were unaware, Toms is a brand of shoes where for every pair that you buy they donate a pair to a child in need.  It's a pretty neat organization and I love the shoes too!  Well that's all for today!  Day 6 of Project 365 complete!

January 5th

I realize that I say this a lot, but I am just not happy with how this picture turned out.  It looked really good in my mind but thinking of a good picture is one thing... taking a good picture is a whole other story.  I know that it's hard to see, so let me explain what this picture is of.  The bookmark to the right is a pro-life bookmark with precious feet (or baby feet as I like to refer to them as).  The Bible verse is written on my wall in my room, along with many other verses.  I came across this verse a little while ago and I feel like it somewhat fits with this bookmark.  So without further ado, here is my picture for Day 5 of Project 365.

January 4th

Day 4 of Project 365 and I'm still going strong.  Today's picture is not the greatest, I apologize.  I desperately wanted to take a picture at school but with all of the hustle and bustle of the first day back from Christmas Vacation, things were way to hectic.  The moral of the story being no picture from school.  This was the next best thing.  I'm just trying to be creative seeing as I have 361 days ahead of me to think of pictures to take.  Well that's it for today.  Happy January 4th!!!

January 3rd

I finally took a picture of myself.  I attempted to take a picture of myself outside but I could not figure out the lighting issue.  No matter which angle I took the picture from, the sun was shining and it ruined the picture.  Needless to say I had to take a picture of myself inside, so here it is.  Not much more to say about this picture.  Tomorrow marks the first day of the second semester of school.  I will attempt to take tomorrow's picture at school but I cannot promise anything.  Until tomorrow!

January 2nd

Day 2 of Project 365.  I'm not completely satisfied with this picture.  I would have liked it to be better.  I'm still trying to figure out how to properly use my camera outdoors.  This one is in no way representative of what I did today, I just wanted to capture an outdoor photo.  Hopefully tomorrow I will take a picture of myself.  Bye for now!

January 1st

For Day 1 of Project 365, I wanted to capture what I did on New Year's Eve.  Therefore, I simply decided to take a picture of several games that I played with my family.  I realize this picture is fairly plain, and I guarantee that as the days fly by, I will post better pictures.  For me, this project is about experimenting with and learning about my camera, but most importantly, I am doing it for the fun!  I will try and have an actual picture of myself in the days to come.  I look forward to posting more pictures and I hope that I can keep it up for the entire year of 2011.  Happy New Year everyone!
